What does this mean for packaging?

Easy to open and pour is the top priority
When asked to pick the most important packaging criteria:
40% of consumers rank easy to open and pour in first place
38% prioritise recyclability for their packaging
22% favour packaging that helps extend the shelf life of the products

Recyclable and easy-to-open packaging is more important to Spanish consumers than design and size.
According to the opinion of majority Spanish consumers (54%), the most important aspect of packaging is its easiness to pour out the content. This is followed closely by recyclability (52%), with design and size being less significant factors.

The results show that 57% of consumers are willing to pay more for products in sustainable packaging, and 82% of them would be more likely to buy a product if it came in a metal container, knowing that metal can inherently be recycled again and again. This preference not only highlights a trend towards sustainability but also reflects a change in the consumer value system, with 70% placing greater importance on reuse and recycling than on luxury packaging or exclusive designs.
